Truth be told, Lachie was a terrible flier. He'd never admit it to his sister that she was better at it than he was; but it was true. It was about time he was better than Melisa at something, so he decided to give flying a try. Luckily for whoever cleaned up the quidditch pitch, Lachie hadn't eaten all day. There wasn't much of a chance that he would throw up anything somewhat solid. He cringed at the idea as he lifted one leg over his sister's Comet Two-Sixty.
He kicked off of the ground, but before he'd even been in the air for 3 seconds, he'd lost his balance on the broom and fallen off onto the solid, hard ground underneath him.
"Oof." he moaned as he fell off onto the ground. He lay there on the ground, sprawled onto his back. The sound of laughter caught his attention.

Lexi walked through the school. She was heading off to the Quidditch Pitch. She had flown in ages - it had been quite a millenia. So here she was, heading down with her expensive broomstick right down to the ground. She was going for a fly, and she didn't care who stood in her way. She wasn't like other Hufflepuff students. Sure, she was trustworthy and loyal, and the whole shebang. But she stood by some of the Slytherin beliefs as well. Even some of the Gryffindor's about being brave. And then she was very smart, like a Ravenclaw. The Sorting Hat had been confused as to where to place her, so he stuck her in Hufflepuff.
Lexi walked down the path to the Quidditch Pitch. More like ran down. She was getting excited at getting time to fly again. As she opened the gate, she was saw, to her dismay, another person there, and by the looks of it, a Slytherin. Well, she had nothing against them, she liked Slytherins. Where other people didn't, she did. But she didn't know if this guy would know that. She watched as he tried to fly, and then laughed hysterically when he fell off his broom. "Wow, you're not so good at that are you?" she asked him. She didn't mean to taunt him, that wasn't her. She was just being friendly in her own way. She wasn't wearing her school robes, just a pair of jeans and a t-shirt with her favourite band on it.

All in all that I know, There's nothing here to run from, 'Cause yeah, everybody here, Has somebody to lean on, Lachie cringed at the sound of a new voice entering the quidditch pitch. A girl, no doubt. He lay on the ground, sprawled on his back with his sister's broom-stick lying on his stomach. "You didn't just see what you thought you just saw." he managed to blurt out without looking to see who it was. Still avoiding eye contact, he hoisted himself up onto two feet and put the broom-stick on the ground. He managed to supress a chagrin. Interaction with other people was not his thing, and what ever happened to alone time anymore? Geesh, anywhere he'd go, someone else would always be there. Lachie turned around to face the 'intruder' to his quidditch practice. She was a girl, but Lachie had no idea what house she was in or what year. He studied her face for a few seconds, finally coming to the conclusion that she was nearly as old as he was. She was a fair bit shorter than his 6'4", though. He scanned the rest of the pitch incase more people came. He mentally shuddered at the thought. "Well if you're so great at this, show me how it's done." he retorted angrily. It was one thing to be embarassed, but another thing all together to be teased about it. He folded his arms and stared angrily at the girl.

Lexi watched as the guy cringed. Yeah, she would to if she got caught having that happen to her. So she didn't exactly know who the guy was, and realised that her earlier remark may have been a little harsh. "Don't worry. Secret safe with me, I won't tell anyone, she said, flashing her brilliant smile. This guy was very good looking, very very good looking. And she couldn't help but smile as she looked at him. However, that changed when he god angry at her. Okay, so she deserved that, she had taunted him. "Alright, I will," she said. She walked right up to him and then swung her leg over her broom and flew up into the sky.
It felt so good to be back on a broom. She even lost herself for a moment, as she flew her way once around the pitch, and then twice. After she had made sure that the guy was still watching her, she thought she would do one of the easier maneuvers that she had shown her Quidditch Captain, one that nearly gave him a heart attack. At first, it would appear that Lexi was falling, but that wasn't what it really was about. Lexi pulled out her wand, and closed her eyes. And then, taking a deep breath, and loosened her thighs and fell off the broom. She fell toward the ground, and then after about 5 seconds, and waved her wand, and thought Accio and within another second, the broom flew toward her. She grabbed it and swung herself on, and then flew back toward the ground.
She landed nicely, her hair a little windswept. She fixed it quickly and then turned around and walked toward the guy. She smiled at him and then said, "I'm Alexis, but people call me Lexi." She wasn't going to give her last name. But still, she had quite a reputation, she was the Hufflepuff seeker after all, but she also had a reputation around the school of belonging to all four houses.

All in all that I know, There's nothing here to run from, 'Cause yeah, everybody here, Has somebody to lean on, So, the girl had a sense of humor. At least talking to her would be that one less bit painful. Being anti-social had it's drawbacks sometimes. Lachie grinned back at her dazzling smile. She was pretty; that was something that Lachie rarely noticed in a girl. She also kept her cool when Lachie had a bit of a temper tantrum at her. The corners of his lips pulled down into a slight frown. "Sure, okay." Lachie had the feeling he was about to be shown up. His eyes stuck to her like glue -- she was a natural at it. His mouth hung open as she swung fifty metres around his head, fell, accio'd her broom and landed safely. Shock was etched into every line of his face. His mind was a bit incoherant, too. "W - o - w." was about the extent of what he had to say at that point in time. His jaw was still slack, hanging open. Alexis. Lexi. He pondered on that for a second, his jaw coming back into his face, his eyes popping back into place. He smiled, not quite meeting her eyes. "That's a lovely name. I'm Lachie." Wow, wait. Did Lachie just compliment someone? He really must be crazy. Either that or.. he didn't want to think about that. "You were amazing up there. I'm guessing you're in your house's quidditch team?" he teased, smiling still. He folded his arms and looked at her intently. "Perhaps you could teach me how to do stuff like that." It was doubtful that he'd be able to do anything like that, but why not give it a try and make a fool of himself while at it. ( ooc: xD I totally agree with you. )

Oh, boy is this guy going to be showed how to fly, she thought to herself as he gave her a dull response. She smiled to herself as she flew up into the air. She was out to impress this guy, which was weird because she had never really been hell bent on impressing someone. All the guys usually came to her. She flew around the pitch, up and down and around, making wonderful motions in the air, as if she was dancing with an invisible partner. She then did her trick, one that had taken her many years to perfect, and heaps of broken bones. It was hard, but so much fun when perfected.
She touched back onto the ground, in time to hear him say wow. She smiled one of her glorious smiles at him. It was nice to know that she had managed to impress him. She loved it when she was able to do that. It was unusual for her. She usually didn't really care what people thought. But she was great friends with many people at this school, all in different houses. That was because everyone knew that even though she was labeled as a Hufflepuff, she really could fit in anywhere.
Lexi blushed slightly. He had just complemented her. That was nice, not really usual from a Slytherin, so it made her feel even more special. Lachie. Well that was unusual. Not something you heard often. "Lachie. That's not a name you hear everyday. I like it, very unique," she said, smiling.
"You were amazing up there. I'm guessing you're in your house's quidditch team? Perhaps you could teach me how to do stuff like that" She smiled even wider at him when he said that. "Yeah, I'm a seeker. The first time I showed our captain that, he very nearly had a heat attack. And sure, I'd love to help. But not that. You will kill yourself it you try to do something like that now. First, you need to know how to sit on a broom without falling off," she said, joking. She was exited. She would get to spend more time with this gorgeous guy,

All in all that I know, There's nothing here to run from, 'Cause yeah, everybody here, Has somebody to lean on, Lachie was incoherent. She likes my name. He repeated that over and over in his head, smiling gleefully with his hands still crossed over his chest. He was still very curious about her last name, which she hadn't given, and which house she was in. She couldn't be in Slytherin, she was way too nice. Gryffindor? She was pretty brave, doing all those amazing tricks in mid-air. But she was real nice; the outgoing kind of type. A smile crept up on his lips as she talked about stunning the captain of her team. She was just stunning to look at anyway, without the -- Hold on. Shut up, Lachie. he muttered to himself mentally. He shook his head slightly, his messy blond hair falling over his face and his eyes. He swept it out of his eyes with one swift movement. His lips pulled back over his teeth as he laughed. "I'm not suprised he had a heart-attack. You nearly gave me one." It feels like I'm having one right now, just looking at her. Man, she is beautiful. he added to himself mentally. He chuckled again at her joke. "Are you sure that's possible? Me, sitting on a broom without falling off?" he smirked, raising an eyebrow with a playful smile on his lips. He rolled his sweater sleeves up, revealing the start of his upper arms, and walked over to his broom -- actually, his sister's broom -- to pick it up. "Ummm," he stalled, holding it up in his right hand. "Teach me how you do it, oh wise one." he grinned, staring blatantly at the weapon in his hand.

Lexi dropped her firebolt as she stopped where she was. She looked him over. W.o.w. He was very very good looking. He noticed that he shook his head. Problem? A fly bothering you?" she asked him jokingly, raising an eyebrow. Maybe it was some sort of nervous reflex of his? Well she didn't know. But whatever it was. He was still immensely good looking. Well, he would probably have a problem with what house she belonged to. Although....everyone in her year knew that that was just a label. She stood there, arms crossed, staring at him. She then looked away, around the pitch.
She snorted. He nearly had a heart attack? As if, a Slytherin guy being concerned about someone else apart from Slytherin? Well, the world was changing. "Well, aren't you kind," she said, her lips spreading into a smile. She couldn't help but be delighted at the thought. A very good looking boy, nearly having a heart attack over what she had just done. Well, she sure did feel special. She laughed at what he said, about not being able to sit on a broom. "Well, I'm sure you will master it. You might want to start by gripping the broom a little more tightly with your thighs. That usually helps," she said.
She barely suppressed a laugh. "Oh, come on. You can't seriously. It's not that scary," she said. Then she burst out laughing when he begged her to teach him. "Oh, alright," she said, smiling a smile of satisfaction. Oh yep. This was going to be good. She somehow managed to score flying lessons with one major hot guy. She went to pick up her broom, but instead of picking it up the way Lachie did. She picked it up the way passionate fliers did. "Up," she said said to her broom, standing directly above it. The broom flew up into her hand. "Now, where would you like to start? Any preferences. I would suggest you think small," she said smiling at him, and holding up her free hand, pointing finger and thumb close together.

All in all that I know, There's nothing here to run from, 'Cause yeah, everybody here, Has somebody to lean on, Lachie grinned widely at her. "You know these flies here in England." he teased. "Stupid little pests." He said, with a tight clutch on his broomstick. She stared intently at him -- was she trying to figure him out? -- with her arms crossed, but she then soon looked away. Lachie smiled to himself. He was distractedly looking at her broom when she spoke. His smile dropped, and he pressed his lips together into a hard line. "Not really," he replied to her. "You're about the only person I've ever been nice to, my dear sister included." He held up his arm with the broom in hand. "This belongs to her. She has no idea I have it." he grinned. Lachie wondered what Lexi would think, about him only being nice to her. He was so curious about it, but he didn't press it. He didn't want it to seem like he liked her or anything. Nooo, not at all. What gave anyone that idea? She'd started instructing him, and Lachie was all ears for it. His face turned neutral as she talked to him. He was concentrating pretty hard to not look like an idiot in front of her. He stepped one leg over his broom, and he gripped it tightly with his thighs. Just as Lexi had ordered. "Right, so I've got that step down pat." He told her. His eyebrows furrowed in concentration as he payed close attention to her. He noticed she blinked alot when she laughed. Small things that noone would really notice about her, that's what Lachie was paying close attention to. His tightly pressed lips cracked into a smile at the sound of her laughter. He gaped at her when she did yet another trick. "One day you'll have to teach me that one." he said, nodding to her broom. "Up." he stated, raising his eyebrows, a small smile on his lips. He thought about where they would start. Maybe he could ask her out to Hogsmede, next time there would be a trip or something. Lachie put that out of his mind -- he didn't think that that's what Lexi meant when she asked where they would start. "Umm, maybe getting off the ground first?" he shrugged, holding his broom tightly with his thighs, and both hands.

She smiled at him. So he had a sense of humor. That was nice. "Yeah. You would think witches and wizards were inventing different things like the cheese cauldron, but they can't come up with one little spell to get rid of flies," she said. She was staring at him intently, arms crossed. And then she looked away, wandering where this conversation was going. His next words stumped her. But she didn't let it show. She just stood there, looking at him, and listening to what he said. It was silent for a moment, and then Lexi said, "Well, that makes me feel somewhat more special."
She raised her eyebrows. Chances were, that if she told him to let go of his broom with his hands, the broom would fall out of in between his legs. "So, by downpat you mean that if I told you to let go with your hands, the broom wouldn't fall?" she asked him curiously. She motioned for him to demonstrate. After he demonstrated, she walked over to him, and then said, "Okay, so thigh gripping is important, a good grip with your hands is important. You've got the basics. Now, when you feel ready, kick of lightly with your feet so that you raise yourself up a little into the air."
She laughed. "Well, typically, when teaching someone how to fly, that's the first thing that they teach. A connection with a broom is kind of needed. So when the broom knows the rider well, it will obey their every whim," she said. Wow, she was sounding like a total know-it-all. But Quidditch was her passion, so that was expected of her.

All in all that I know, There's nothing here to run from, 'Cause yeah, everybody here, Has somebody to lean on, Lachie smiled back at her. I guess that's all the answer I'm getting. He thought to himself, after she said it was nice. Basically, Lachie was warming up to her. He hoped to ask her to the halloween ball before the Quidditch lesson was over today, but he wasn't sure how to do it. Maybe he should just ask her as friends? If that's what she wanted. She wasn't really showing much affection back to him. He snapped back into reality when she started quizzing him on his broom techniques. He looked at her and he broke out into a grin. He let his hands go of the tip of the broom and gripped it tightly as ever with his thighs. He moved his thighs around, so the broom was swinging from side to side. "Yeah, I think I got it." he laughed. He put both hands back onto the broom as soon as she started talking again. He took a few deep breaths before lightly kicking off the ground. The eyes in his head popped out of their sockets. "Lexi!" he called to her, as he hovered a few feet above the ground. He was excited, his smile said it all. "By the way, you're such a Quidditch nerd." he laughed, teasingly. "Okay, so is there anything more I need to know about this part of the whole flying thing?" he asked, looking down at her on the ground. Ask her now, you fool. he thought. He struggled with himself mentally while she gave him the next instruction.

Lexi didn't really comment on it, but it actually felt good to her that she was getting this special treatment. He was good looking, and so far, she liked his personality. She felt that this was a guy that she could easily go out with. Unfortunately, he might be put off about her being a Hufflepuff. Hopefully he would know her reputation. Lexi felt that it was unfair that she was placed in Hufflepuff. She didn't really belong in a house. She smiled at him. She really wanted to just go up to him and kiss him, but then...well, he might think that she was a freak because of it.
She laughed when he moved his legs to make the broom swing from side to side between his legs. Her eyes traveled down, but then snapped back up. Snap out of it Lex! He wouldn't be into you," she thought to herself. "Okay. You go it. Yay," she said. She watched as he flew a few feet up into the air and hovered. She felt delighted as he called out to her. Swinging her leg over her broom, she kicked off and flew up to him. "Relax. You're doing good. I'll be hounest when I say that I was expecting you to have fallen by now," she said.
Lexi laughed lightly as he said that she was a Quidditch nerd. "Yeah, I am. Everyone has to have a passion, and this is mine. With flying comes a certain freedom that not everyone gets, or gets to experience at least. So I enjoy every minute of flying," she said. Okay, now that was weird, even coming from her. "Righto, so to move forward, lean in, to go right - lean right, to go left - lean left, to stop - pull your broom up an inch and lean back, to go up, pull your broom up hard, to go down - push your broom down, and to land just make your way down gently and then land on your feet, preferably," she said. She would follow him just in case. In a way, she hoped that he fell, so that at least they would have some sort of contact, but then again, she hoped he didn't. What would happen, she would see.

All in all that I know, There's nothing here to run from, 'Cause yeah, everybody here, Has somebody to lean on, Lachie laughed, but grimaces. "Well, I've got other talents I guess." he grinned at her, still keeping a very tight hold on his broom handle. He kind of agreed with Lexi -- he would probably fall off at any second. He kept his eyes on his surroundings as she talked about being a quidditch nerd. "Yeah, I know what you mean about having to have a passion." He would never admit that his passion was young adult books for girls, though. "Well, you're good at it." he flicked his eyes to her, noticing that she was not circling him, talking to him in a nice way. So definitely wasn't a Slytherin, she was too nice for that. He nodded along quietly as she told him what to do with the bloody broom now. "Okey dokes." he nodded one last time before setting off to the hoops at the other end of the field. He was quite slow about it, not wanting to press his luck with the broom at hand. "Okay, so to go right, you lean right, yes?" he asked her loudly as she flew a few feet away from him. He was still riding slowly. "Umm, Lexi.." he asked slowly, not sure if she'd say yes to the question he was about to ask. Perhaps he would chicken out of it, he had no idea.

She didn't say anything about him falling off. Enough comments on his clumsiness on a broom. Now, she was worrying about how he would react when he found out that she was labeled a Hufflepuff. That wasn't going to go down well, at least she thought now. So far, this guy was proving to be full of surprises. Maybe he would accept her. Maybe not. She just didn't know. "Thanks. It took me a while to be this good. But you know. I'm good. Probably one of the best," she said. Okay, there was the Slytherin part of her personality.
"Yep, lean right, here, like this," she said, demonstrating her turn. She supposed that if he didn't get it, she could climb onto his broom and demonstrate on there, helping him on his own broom, but she would try this way first. He might not like her touching him. "You got it?" she asked. She started circling around him. Lexi didn't like being in the air and not moving through it. She needed to move in and out. That was the way that flying should be done.
Lexi stopped what she was doing when he said her name. "Yes Lachie," she said to him, smiling again. They were being so polite. It was funny. But why couldn't she stop smiling around him. It was very weird.

All in all that I know, There's nothing here to run from, 'Cause yeah, everybody here, Has somebody to lean on, He thought that Lexi was experiencing the same weird feeling as he was, but he wasn't so sure about it. Lachie was a bit like a girl when it came up to picking up signs from the opposite sex. The way she said his name made him go all funny -- weird, huh? He shook his head and closed his eyes tightly. "Umm, you like dancing, don't you?" he asked her, not sure how she would take it. He waited fore a few moments before answering her former questions.
"Uhh, I'm not all that sure if I've really got it. Maybe we should have a few more lessons."
Okay, Lachie was REEEEALLY getting out of his zone now. He felt like flying away in embarassment -- what if she didn't like him like that? Argh, it tore him in two. He copied her former movements and leant into the right so he would fly by her. Lachie was still really curious about which house she was in, how old she was, her interests.. his curiosity was flaring up like a fire. [/blockquote][/blockquote]
