Breaking my back just to know your name Seventeen tracks and I've had it with this game I'm breaking my back just to know your name But heaven ain't close in a place like this Anything goes but don't blink you might miss
Lexi watched him stay in the air. Well, at least that was a feat. She didn't know how, or why, but for some reason, she felt really proud of him at that moment. Almost as a girl would feel proud of her boyfriend. But why? Why was she feeling that way to him? It wasn't like he was her boyfriend. She heard his question..and considered how to answer. In truth, she did sort of like to dance, but she was shy about her dancing. But she did like to go to dances, she liked to have a good time. "Yeah...I guess I sort of do like to dance, just not in public," she said.
She smiled. So maybe she was overestimating him just a little. Looks like she would have to get a little close. Well, she would be hounest with herself and say that she didn't mind. "First, you need to figure out the basics before we have more lessons," she said. She was really starting to like this guy. More than maybe she should. She quickly snapped out of it. "Alright. I'm going to hop onto your broom to show you how it's done," she said, riding up directly next to him, their knees touching. Then, skilfully, she swung one of her legs onto the same side as the other, and sat on it like she would on a bench. She then put one foot over his broom so that she was sitting behind him. She moved the other leg, and quickly grabbed his waist before she could fall. She wasn't afraid, but it was better to be safe. "Sorry, I hope you don't mind," she said, feeling a little embarassed by their contact.
Taking his hands, she showed him how to properly take a hold of the broom, and then she leaned herself to the side, his body following hers. "There you go, that's how you do it," she said, feeling a little awkward.

All in all that I know, There's nothing here to run from, 'Cause yeah, everybody here, Has somebody to lean on,
"Oh," Lachie said stupidly, jutting his lower lip out. He wasn't sure how to ask her to the ball if she didn't like dancing. "Well, you probably wouldn't want to come to the ball with me then, I guess." he shrugged, not quite meeting her eyes. That was probably the bravest thing that Lachie had ever done. He'd never asked anyone to anything before; but that was the kind of introverted, anti-social person he was. He completely zoned out, frantically worrying at what Lexi would say to his proposal.
He felt a surge of electricity run through his body, as he saw her climb onto his broom. He swallowed loudly, making a deep gulping sound. Lachie hadn't had much experience with physical contact with other people. How would he react? He wasn't sure. He held his arms out beside him awkwardly as Lexi climbed onto his tiny little broom behind him. She grabbed his waist. Lachie swallowed loudly again.
"Uhhhh, I don't mind." he muttered quietly enough for Lexi to hear. He shook his head, she was waaaay out of his league, but laughed quietly at that fact. She took a hold of his hands -- he liked that lots, but as if he would tell anyone that --, and showed him what he'd been doing wrong all along. He laughed nervously. "I really am a terrible flier." he laughed. His nerves were settling down a bit, which was a good thing.
"So, which is your favourite quidditch team?" he asked curiously, her hands still ontop of his.

Lexi just sat there on her broom shocked. Was he asking her out to the dance? This guy didn't even really know her well. He didn't know who she really was. What would happen when he found out that she was a Hufflepuff. Sure, she was only branded that house, it didn't mean that she belonged there. But still, would he feel that it was embarrassing to be seen with someone like her. "I would love to go to the dance with you..." she said. She paused slightly and then said. "But are you sure that's a good idea. I mean...I'm not exactly the people that Slytherin's go for. Sure, I've got plenty of Slytherin friends...but still..." she said.
Lexi swallowed. When she got onto the broom, she never expected to feel so hot. Her ears went red as she held onto him. Was it weird that she didn't want to let go? Was it so odd? She felt some sort of connection with him. She heard him make a loud gulp. Oh god, was he feeling the same way that she was? Maybe she should get off his broom.
"Uhhhh, I don't mind." Her tummy did butteflies when he said that. But she quickly pulled that out of her mind. She was still holding onto his hands. That felt really good, but in the long run, would it really be good? "No, don't say that. You'll get better. You just need practice," she said. She took off one of her hands and pulled out her wand from her jacket pocket. With a wordless spell, her broom flew up beside his.
She was about to get off, when she heard him ask a question. "Umm, the English team, or the Chudley Cannons. I would love to join any one of those teams after school, but my parents may want me to become an Auror. We'll see. How about you?" she asked, still very away of how close they both were. In a way, she hoped that no one would see.

All in all that I know, There's nothing here to run from, 'Cause yeah, everybody here, Has somebody to lean on,
Lachie pondered on what Lexi had said. She wanted to go with him, but she wasn't sure what other people would think about it? He raised an eyebrow, but she couldn't see it because she was sitting behind him. "Well, if it's any help, I rarely talk to anyone in Slytherin, other than my sister of course."
In other words, he was friendless. Lexi and Melisa were basically his only friends, and he talked to Melisa's boyfriend Kale once in a while, too. Weren't they getting married now or something? hmm. He'd have to find out about that one. "Why? Would it bother peolpe in your house? Which-ever-one-it-is..."
his curiousity flared up again. Perhaps it would be an incentive for Lexi to tell him, he wasn't sure. He turned his head around to look at her. Surprisingly, this conversation was less awkward that what he'd thought it would be. Score! He listened to her, and as strange as it sounded, he thought he kinda heard her smile. Well, the atmosphere lightened when he had awkwardly said that he didn't mind. He pressed his lips in a tight line as she summoned her broom to her. Was she getting off? Lachie put a hand on one of her wrists. "And wheeere do you think you're going?" He grinned at her. "I actually go for one of the lesser known Australian teams. Sounds weird, I know, But they're the underdogs. The Woolongong Warriors." how embarassing. She probably didn't even know the team. "Well, I'm not sure what I'm doing after school, but being an auror does sound cool." He looked to the sky thoughtfully.[/blockquote][/blockquote] [ooc: replying to your mail as soon as I can, I have to clean my room, eeeew!]

Lexi felt slightly embarrassed. She had actually nearly said what house she was in. Did she want to completely ruin this friendship? "Well, if it's any help, I rarely talk to anyone in Slytherin, other than my sister of course." Lexi thought about what he said. She wondered why. He seemed like a nice guy. So then why didn't he really talk to people. She decided not to mention it. Instead, she asked. "Wow, you have a sister. Do you have any other siblings? Who is she?"
Lexi thought about how she would answer the question. And then, shrugging, she just figured that she might as well just jump straight into the deep end. If worst came to worst, she could do her trick again of falling and then flying away. "Well, that would be because I've been branded a Hufflepuff," she said.Branded of course. She didn't really belong anywhere. That's why the sorting hat took ages to place her somewhere. In the end, it just decided to shove her anywhere. But the Hufflpuff hate for Slyethrins was notorious. She thought that she was the only one at Hogwarts who didn't hate them.
"And wheeere do you think you're going?" he asked her. She figured that it would get a little uncomfortable for them to sit like this up here. Especially with her brand house. He gripped her wrist. "Well, I was going to go and sit back on my broom. But obviously not" she said. Her broom was still floating beside them. "The Woolongong Warriors huh? Well I can't say they're the best team....but they certainly have potential," she said.

All in all that I know, There's nothing here to run from, 'Cause yeah, everybody here, Has somebody to lean on,
[hey, i'll make a thread for us in the halloween ball thread?]
Lachie raised an eyebrow at Lexi. She seemed a bit too enthusiastic about him a sister. He grinned anyway, she was probably hiding what house she was in or something. "Her name is Melisa, and she's okay as far as sisters go. Not too annoying."
He chuckled slightly. Yeah, she was alright. She got annoying when she pestered him about being anti-social. She was probably disappointed that he didn't have any uber hot guy friends to perve on or something. She was weird like that. "Uhhm, she's a Slytherin, 5th year, kinda tall and half-werewolf. Yeah, she got the weird gene for some reason."
Lachie shrugged. He hadn't actually told anyone about his sister's 'condition', but as if she'd care. He felt completely at ease around Lexi, and was sure she wouldn't tell anyone. "It just means she gets reeeeeally crabby at 'that time of the month'." He shuddered slightly, remembering what it was like to watch her turn into a wolf. "A Hufflepuff who doesn't despise Slytherins?" he teased, a smile playing up on his lips. He'd half turned around to look at her, when her cheeks went bright red from telling him. So that's what she'd been hiding.. he thought to himself. He grinned at her -- this social thing was becoming more and more easier for him. He wasn't scared of talking to girls anymore. How shocking! His sister would have a heart-attack. "I don't really care which house you're in, you don't suit any of them anyway." He didn't quite meet her eye when he said it. Compliments didn't really flow naturally when it came to Lachie. He smiled at her, finally meeting her eyes. He melted -- figuratively ofcourse. He was still holding onto her wrist. "That's right, obviously not. You aren't done here." Well, he wasn't too sure of what to say. Maybe it sounded mean, but he hoped that Lexi wouldn't take it that way. He laughed. "Well, at least you don't hate them. We have something in common, then." He fidgeted with her wrist, his hand was still on hers. "So, umm, I'll meet you at the hall tonight at around 8?" He looked at her again, once more. The silence seemed kind of... awkward.[/blockquote][/blockquote]

She listened to what he said about his sister and smiled. She wondered if she annoying to her brothers, but decided that if she was, then they would have been way meaner to her when she was growing up. "A sister sounds nice. I have four older brothers, and I'm the only girl," Lexi told him. Why not, it couldn't hurt.
Lexi blushed from embarrassment when she told him about which house she belonged to. She heard what he said, and laughed. "Yeah, I'm weird. I guess that maybe I was dropped on my head at birth or something," she said jokily, "That would actually also explain why I don't belong to any house," she added. Wow, why was she saying all of this. Sure everyone knew that, but she hadn't actually personally said that before.
He held onto her hand. Lexi didn't know what she was doing, but somehow she managed to slip her hand into his, so it made it that they were holding hands. His eyes locked in hers and they were locked together. She was getting butterflies in her stomach. Instinctively she smiled. Oh god! What are you doing idiot. Stop smiling! she thought to herself. But she couldn't. All she could do was revert her eyes from his, but she still kept smiling. "Yeah, we have something in common," she said.
There was an awkward silence, just a little one. Oh god. That means I have to quickly go and get a dress. OMG! I might need to ask my bestie. But OMG! She's going to want to get ready. What am I going to do? she thought. How was she going to get a dress on time. "Umm yeah. Sure. Eight sounds great..." she said. She didn't even know why she cared so much. But for some reason, she actually wanted to impress him. Something that she never wanted to do.
